The purpose and application requirements of ferro silicon

Ferro silicon is an iron silicon alloy made from coke, steel shavings, quartz (or silica) as raw materials, which is melted into molten iron after high-temperature reduction in an electric furnace at 1500-1800 degrees Celsius. It is an important alloy variety in the smelting industry. The "Notes on Import and Export Tariff Commodities and Items" stipulate that ferro silicon alloy has an iron element content of 4% or more by weight and contains more than 8% silicon.

Application of ferrosilicon: mainly used in various industries such as steel smelting, casting, and chemical engineering. Ferro silicon is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking industry; Used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry; Used as a reducing agent in ferro alloy production; Used as a replacement for magnesium in the Pijiang process. Silicon iron powder that has been finely ground or misted can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry; It can be used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High silicon ferro silicon can be used in the chemical industry to manufacture products such as silicone.

Applicable tariff rate: Starting from January 1, 2008, the export tariff of ferrosilicon was once again raised to 25%. Since 2017, the country has cancelled or lowered some export tariffs on ferroalloys, and the export tariff on ferrosilicon (tentative tax rate) has been reduced from 25% to 20%.

Requirements for customs standardized declaration:

1. Elements of declaration for ferrosilicon export: 1. Product name; 2Material; 3Content of ingredients.

2. Enterprises should accurately declare product names, specifications, and models, and classify the products they declare and determine the corresponding product codes. For example, the declared product name is "ferrosilicon", and the specifications and models are: iron 59%, silicon 37%, calcium 2%, and aluminum 2%. It should be included in the tax code column 72022900.
